Where is your coffee from?
Our coffees come from carefully selected coffee-growing regions across Colombia. We focus on exceptional quality, traceability, and unique flavor profiles while working directly with coffee producers and coffee-growing families.
Do you work directly with coffee farmers?
Yes. We build direct relationships with Colombian coffee producers and coffee-growing families. Our mission is to bring exceptional Colombian coffee to more people while helping producers receive more recognition for their work.

Coffee & Processing

What is specialty coffee?
Specialty coffee represents a high standard of quality in the coffee industry. Many of our coffees score 85 points or higher on the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) scale. Every coffee is professionally cupped, evaluated, and quality-checked before export to help ensure consistency, traceability, and an exceptional coffee experience from origin to cup.
What is Gesha coffee?
Gesha is a rare and highly valued coffee variety known for its elegant aroma, delicate sweetness, bright acidity, and complex cup profile. It is one of the most appreciated varieties in the specialty coffee world.
What is Pink Bourbon coffee?
Pink Bourbon is a unique Colombian coffee variety appreciated for its sweetness, complexity, and vibrant cup profile. It is loved by many specialty coffee drinkers because it can be smooth, expressive, and naturally sweet.
What is washed coffee?
Washed coffee is a processing method where the fruit is removed from the coffee bean before drying. This process highlights the coffee's natural characteristics and often produces a cleaner, brighter, and more balanced cup with greater clarity of flavor.
What is honey process coffee?
Honey process coffee is dried with part of the natural fruit mucilage still attached to the bean. No honey is added. This method usually creates more sweetness, more body, and a smooth, balanced cup.
What is co-fermented coffee?
Co-fermented coffee is coffee processed with real fruits or natural ingredients during fermentation. At Mt. Zulu Coffee, our co-fermented coffees are made with real fruits, and the process is natural. No artificial flavoring is added to the roasted coffee.
What is Carbonic Maceration coffee?
Carbonic Maceration is an advanced fermentation method inspired by techniques used in the wine industry. During this process, coffee cherries are fermented in a controlled environment rich in carbon dioxide before processing. This method can enhance sweetness, complexity, aroma, and flavor clarity, creating a unique and memorable coffee experience.
What is sugar cane decaf coffee?
Sugar cane decaf, also known as EA decaf, is a natural decaffeination process that uses ethyl acetate derived from sugar cane. It removes caffeine while helping preserve sweetness and flavor in the coffee.

Roasting & Freshness

Why do you roast coffee at origin?
We believe roasting at origin helps preserve the coffee’s natural qualities. The coffee comes fresh from the farm in parchment, then it is milled and roasted in Colombia. By roasting at origin, we help protect the character, aroma, sweetness, and unique profile of each coffee.
How fresh is your coffee?
Our coffees are roasted in small batches and carefully packed to preserve freshness. We focus on quality, traceability, and bringing a fresh Colombian coffee experience from origin to your cup.
How do I know the roasting date of my coffee?
Every coffee lot is tracked through our Coffee Lots page. Simply locate the lot number printed on your coffee bag to view roasting information and details about that specific coffee lot.

What roast level do you offer?
Most of our microlots are medium roast to highlight sweetness, aroma, acidity, and origin character. We also offer Colombian coffees in different roast profiles depending on the product.

Brewing & Grind

How should I brew my coffee?
The best brewing method depends on your personal taste and the coffee you choose. Whether you prefer pour over, drip coffee, French press, espresso, or cold brew, we have created a Brewing Guide to help you get the best cup possible.

View Brewing Guide
Which grind should I choose?
Choose based on your brewing method:
  • Whole Bean: Best for maximum freshness.
  • Medium Grind: Best for drip coffee makers and pour over.
  • Fine Grind: Best for espresso-style brewing.
  • Coarse Grind: Best for French press and cold brew.
Which coffee should I choose?
If you enjoy clean and balanced coffees, explore our washed coffees. If you prefer floral and elegant profiles, try our rare varieties. For sweeter and more expressive flavors, discover our naturally processed and co-fermented coffees. We also offer decaffeinated options for those looking to enjoy coffee without caffeine.
Which coffee is best for pour over?
Coffees with delicate aroma, sweetness, and bright profiles are excellent for pour over because this method highlights the unique character of the coffee.
Which coffee is best for espresso?
For espresso-style brewing, we recommend coffees with sweetness, body, and balance. Medium roast coffees can work beautifully depending on the grinder, recipe, and taste preference.

Are your coffees single origin?

Additional Questions

What should I do if my order is delayed or never arrives?
Please contact us. We closely monitor every order and will work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and we will do our best to make things right.
Why do some coffee beans look different in color?
Different coffee varieties and processing methods can naturally affect the appearance of the beans. Washed coffees often have a more uniform color, while honey, co-fermented, and decaffeinated coffees may appear darker, lighter, or less uniform. This is completely normal and does not indicate that the coffee is old or lower quality.
How do I know your coffee is high quality?
Every coffee lot is professionally evaluated through a cupping process before export. Many of our coffees are scored by certified Q Graders and selected based on quality, flavor, consistency, and overall cup profile.
Why do you roast and pack coffee at origin?
We roast and pack our coffee in Colombia to help preserve freshness and protect the coffee's unique character. The coffee moves directly from the farm through milling, roasting, and packaging without long periods of storage, helping maintain aroma, sweetness, and flavor complexity.
Do you have a physical coffee shop or local store?
No. Mt. Zulu Coffee is currently available exclusively through our official website, Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Etsy, and TikTok Shop.
